This archive currently links one fully reviewed Portugal dossier. Portugal's public broadcast archive also preserves reporting about other alleged sightings, pilot accounts, and an Air Force inspection file. Those catalogue records add research context, but they are not substitutes for the original files or proof of an extraordinary object.

Reports preserved by RTP

A 1995 RTP retrospective catalogues reports associated with Serra das Meadas near Lamego in 1974, Terceira Island and Lajes in 1968, a 1957 military-pilot account, and a later pilot account said to have involved radar contact. An earlier 1990 report also references a 1958 radio broadcast, 1978 amateur footage, radio-amateur observations, and testimony from a former TAP commander.

What the records establish

The RTP entries establish that Portuguese broadcasters documented these claims and interviewed named participants. They do not, by themselves, authenticate every date, image, radar return, or proposed explanation. The underlying Air Force records and original media need separate provenance checks before any report can become a full case dossier here.

Current archive coverage

The linked Amarante record is retained as a source-dispute dossier: reviewed material does not support the former claim of 25 October 1977 UFO photographs. The traceable account instead concerns children reporting an unusual figure near Padronelo on 14 January 1977. Keeping that distinction visible prevents an inherited label from becoming false evidence.

The former record named ‘Amarante UFO photographs’ and dated it 25 October 1977, but no reviewed source identifies a photographer, witness, original negative, publication, or photograph from that date. A traceable research chapter instead describes a different report: on 14 January 1977, one girl aged ten and two boys aged ten and nine said they saw a large orange-faced figure above a hill while doing gymnastics at Padronelo, Amarante. Their drawings and later-collected testimony are not photographs, and the date, evidence type and described subject all conflict with the old entry. The safest conclusion is that the October photographic identity is unsupported and must not be repaired by borrowing facts from the January children’s report.
