Green illuminated shape recorded from a car in Albuquerque
A driver recorded a bright green segmented shape in Albuquerque around 10 p.m.; the witness initially considered a glow-in-the-dark kite and later said the object appeared in a tree.
What the video shows
The 5.77-second vertical clip is filmed through a car window or windshield beside a lit roadway. A compact group of saturated green segments appears against the dark sky while the camera and vehicle move. Motion blur changes the outline from frame to frame, and the video contains no fixed altitude reference, resolved body, abrupt acceleration or interaction with another airborne object.
Witness description
The original poster said the object was seen while driving in Albuquerque at about 10 p.m. The witness first considered a kite because illuminated kites are reportedly common in the area. The poster later returned and said the object was in a tree in a different shape, but did not record that second observation.
Source and provenance
The original r/UFOs post 1uxsyhe was removed but preserved by r/UFOs_Archive with the first-person text and direct media link. The Reddit video uses media ID wegv849lvidh1 and carries a creation time of July 16, 2026 at 04:50:56 UTC. Its 480-by-854 H.264 rendition was downloaded, stored locally and fully decoded without error.
Evidence notes
The source-derived clip verifies that a green light pattern was recorded, but it is extremely short and filmed from a moving viewpoint with heavy blur and exposure clipping. There is no exact street, direction, raw phone file, second camera or recorded follow-up in the tree. Shape, size, distance and speed cannot be recovered reliably.
Possible explanations
An LED kite or other tethered illuminated toy is the leading explanation. The segmented green pattern and the witness's report that the object later appeared in a tree are consistent with a lightweight object becoming caught. A small decorated drone is another possibility. The clip does not show performance requiring an extraordinary explanation.
