Two lights brighten and fade over Evans Head, Australia

A portrait video records two separated points of light above parked caravans, with one point fading as the other becomes brighter.

What the video shows

The complete 19-second portrait clip uses caravans, vehicles and rooftop equipment as foreground references. One light is visible at first, then a second point appears farther to the right. Their brightness changes while the camera reframes; no solid shapes, trails or abrupt angular turns are resolved, and the video contains no audio track.

Witness description

The poster gave the time as 7:47 p.m. on July 22 in Evans Head, New South Wales, and described clear conditions. In discussion, they said similar lights had appeared several times before the recording and claimed two had seemed to approach and then diverge. Those earlier movements are not contained in the posted 19-second clip.

Source and provenance

The original r/UFOs post 1v3gxyf identifies u/Je_pedo, Evans Head, the stated date and time, clear conditions and Reddit media ID jw20jehleseh1. The complete 888-by-1920 H.264 source was remuxed without trimming to a local MP4; the thumbnail is a frame from that file.

Evidence notes

The direct first-person post, exact claimed time and location, complete source video and useful foreground support provenance. Missing compass direction, original camera metadata, a star field and independent recordings limit reconstruction. The points show changes in brightness, but the clip does not establish their distance or physical motion.

Possible explanations

Sunlight reflected by Starlink or other satellites near the evening terminator is the leading explanation. A commenter reported that a satellite-flare simulation for the stated place and time put visible Starlink flares to the west, but this archive did not independently reproduce that calculation. Distant aircraft viewed head-on are another possibility.

Verification notes

The post, author, claimed time and place, media ID, complete local video and source-video thumbnail are documented. Two lights are visible and satellite flares fit the brightness behavior; credibility is rated B for provenance while the exact objects remain unconfirmed.
