Inverurie video follows a steady white light over Aberdeenshire
A Reddit poster said a silent, non-flashing white light moved slowly east over Inverurie at about 11:40 p.m. while the witness was walking a neighbour's dog.
What the video shows
The 152-second night video repeatedly frames a small saturated white point near and above a dark tree line. The camera zooms and loses focus at times while the point changes position gradually. No surface detail, navigation lights, sudden acceleration, sharp turn or interaction with another object can be resolved.
Witness description
The poster said the object was seen at 11:40 p.m. on July 12 in Inverurie while walking a neighbour's dog, roughly 25 minutes before the post was written. The witness described slow eastward movement with no audible noise or visible flashing and asked whether it might have been the International Space Station. No second named witness or exact viewing direction was supplied.
Source and provenance
The retained source is the original Reddit post, ID 1uuujm7, published July 12, 2026 at 23:09:40 UTC. Its hosted video carries media ID za8t7x2vrvch1. A 1440-by-1080 H.264 rendition and a frame from that file were downloaded and stored locally; the source post remains linked for provenance.
Evidence notes
The continuous clip, named town, approximate time and traceable original post provide useful context. The limitations are severe: the target is only a saturated point, there is no camera metadata or independent observation, and handheld zoom makes apparent size and motion unreliable. Silence and a lack of visible flashing do not exclude a distant aircraft or satellite.
Possible explanations
A satellite, including a possible ISS pass, a distant aircraft seen head-on, or a bright celestial object combined with camera movement are plausible. An astronomical pass calculation, flight-tracking data and the witness's exact azimuth would be needed to narrow the options. The video does not establish an extraordinary craft.
Verification notes
Original-source video localized and technically verified as playable; location and time remain based on the poster's account, and the light is unidentified rather than confirmed anomalous.
