Small dark object filmed over Mexico City
An original Reddit poster said a dark circular object was recorded over Mexico City on July 15, but the short clip provides no scale, range or independent tracking data.
What the video shows
The 32.6-second landscape video follows a small dark point against a blue-gray, partly cloudy evening sky. The camera pans and zooms while the point drifts across the frame. It never resolves into a body with visible structure, and the clip shows no clear instantaneous acceleration, sharp turn, light emission or interaction with another object.
Witness description
The poster said the object was seen in Mexico City on July 15, 2026 at 7:45 p.m., labeling the time Central Standard Time. The witness described it as a black circle and felt its motion did not resemble a balloon or aircraft, then asked the community for an explanation. No neighborhood, viewing direction or camera model was supplied.
Source and provenance
The original Reddit post 1uxq136 was published July 16, 2026 at 02:25:13 UTC by the stated camera witness. The hosted video has media ID tl39hlli5idh1. Its 1440-by-1080 H.264 rendition was downloaded, stored locally and fully decoded; the thumbnail is a crop from that file rather than a separate illustration.
Evidence notes
The continuous source video and first-person account are useful, but the object occupies only a few pixels. There is no raw metadata, second camera, fixed reference at the object's apparent altitude, wind comparison or flight-tracking check. Camera movement prevents a reliable estimate of speed or path, so the witness's impression of unusual motion cannot be independently tested from this clip.
Possible explanations
A small balloon is plausible because the object is dark, unresolved and moves without a demonstrable maneuver. A drone or a bird seen at distance also remains possible. The image does not support a confident aircraft identification, but neither does it show a performance characteristic that requires an extraordinary explanation.
Verification notes
Original-source video localized and fully decoded; post time and claimed city are preserved, while object identity, exact location, direction and raw metadata remain unverified.
