Two groups of lights filmed over Rio de Janeiro before dawn
A 31-second portrait video shows a short vertical-looking string of colored lights against the night sky; the witness said a larger red light was also visible below it.
What the video shows
The complete 31-second video holds on a compact chain of several lights that appears nearly vertical in the portrait frame. The points vary between greenish, pale and reddish tones and intermittently fade. A smaller isolated point is visible below the chain in parts of the recording. The clip provides no horizon, stars or fixed structure from which angular motion or distance can be measured.
Witness description
The poster said several people at a party overlooking the Rio-Niteroi Bridge saw the lights at about 3:30 a.m. on July 19. An airline-pilot friend reportedly could not identify them and estimated high altitude. The witness described the chain and a larger red light moving horizontally, with the red light remaining visible for roughly 30 minutes. Those estimates are reported testimony, not measurements from the posted clip.

The original r/UFOs post 1v27q72 identifies u/RioGuyPablo, the observation date and location, and Reddit media ID fpxh7bvwcieh1. The full HLS source was remuxed without trimming to a local H.264/AAC MP4; the thumbnail is a frame from that file.
Evidence notes
The live first-person post, named city, time, multiple claimed witnesses and complete source video support provenance. The clip lacks original metadata, compass direction, calibrated horizon, independent recording and continuous footage of the reported 30-minute interval. The pilot's altitude estimate cannot be tested from a point-light video.
Possible explanations
LED kites, tethered illuminated balloons, drones flying in formation, distant aircraft viewed nearly head-on, or decorative lights suspended below an aerial platform could produce a changing chain. Atmospheric scintillation and phone processing can alter color and visibility. The available clip does not establish extraordinary speed or maneuvering.

The post, author, claimed time and place, media ID, complete local video and source-video thumbnail are documented. The lights are visible, but their distance, number and physical arrangement remain unresolved; credibility is rated C.
