Multiple lights recorded near the horizon from Tenerife

A Tenerife observer published a long telephoto recording of two amber lights and other points appearing near the horizon at about 3 a.m. on July 15.

What the video shows

The localized 5-minute-42-second landscape video shows a mostly black field with two unresolved amber-yellow shapes near the center. Additional small points appear intermittently to the right and move or fade. The two main shapes are overexposed and sometimes elongated by focus, shake and atmospheric blur; no structured body, horizon line or stable distance reference is visible in the frame.

Witness description

The poster said the recording was made at about 3 a.m. on July 15 from Tenerife with an older Nikon bridge camera and telephoto lens. The witness reported seeing lights on three nights, described some as moving horizontally, and uploaded four related videos. The poster said parts were sped up and gamma and contrast were increased, while the original material lasted about an hour.

Source and provenance

The first-person r/UFOs post 1uyk9ls was published July 17, 2026 and links four YouTube uploads in addition to the Reddit-hosted clip. The Reddit media uses ID kjeasncbnodh1. Its complete 5:42 video and audio were downloaded, transcoded without shortening to a web-ready local MP4 and fully decoded without error.

Evidence notes

The long source video and the witness's disclosure of processing are useful, but the main frame lacks a daytime comparison, compass direction, raw camera file, EXIF settings and a visible horizon. The bright shapes cannot be assigned reliable size or range. The separate smartphone view provides more context, yet it does not establish that every light in the telephoto sequence is the same object.

Possible explanations

Satellite flares, including Starlink, are a strong explanation for points that repeatedly appear, move through a small region and fade. For the two stationary amber forms, internal reflection, distant fixed lights, atmospheric distortion or a defocused astronomical source remain plausible. The available footage does not demonstrate extraordinary acceleration or a physical craft.

Verification notes

Original post, media ID, observation time, claimed island and four related uploads are documented; the complete local video is playable and fully decoded, while exact camera position, bearing, raw file and object identity remain unverified.
