Defense Department formally released three historical Navy UAP videos

The April 2020 statement authenticated the circulating Navy videos and explained why the unclassified recordings were formally released.

The department said one video was recorded in November 2004 and two in January 2015. It released them to resolve questions about whether the circulating footage was genuine Navy material.

It establishes the provenance and release status of the GoFast, Gimbal and FLIR1 videos used in modern UAP case discussions.

Authentication means the recordings are genuine Navy videos. The statement did not identify every object or validate every later interpretation of the footage.
